Virangana Avanti Bai Govt. College Chhuikhadan (previously known as Govt. College Chhuikhadan) was established on 23rd July 1989. It is a co-education college and it is fully funded by State Govt. Formerly the college was affiliated with Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University , Raipur now it is affiliated with Hemchand University Durg. This college is on State highway no. 5, 56 kms towards north from district Head quarter Rajnandgaon.

The college offers academic programmes at under graduate level. These are three Faculties - Arts , Commerce ,Science. It also offers Post graduation in Sociology & Geography.

At present , students strength of our college is 1105. Students admitted in this college are mostly from rural background. 95% of the students belong to OBC/ SC/ST Category.

Two Units of NSS (Fifty Students in each unit) are functioning in our college since 1997.These units organize various social activities such as Cleanliness program , water conservation , Plantation, Nasha Mukti Abhiyan , Shiksha Jagrukta etc.

We also Have Youth Red Cross Society which Actively Conducts Activites like Blood donation camps , Sickle Cell Test, Anemia Test , AIDS awareness amongst girls. It also organizes general checkup camps in collaboration with CHC Chhuikhadan.

This college has distance learning center of Sunder Lal Sharma Open University Bilaspur C.G.
